The Khodha programme

A helmet isn't an extra. It's the basics.

Most motorbike riders in Yemen don't wear a helmet, and the result is daily injuries that didn't have to happen. Khodha is our attempt to change that from inside the app.

How it works

Four layers, not one.

1

A photo when the shift starts

Before a captain takes their first request they shoot a live photo in their helmet with the front camera. Gallery uploads are refused.

2

Random checks through the day

The app asks for another photo at an unexpected moment, and one at the start of a random ride while the rider is watching.

3

The rider is the real witness

One question after every ride: was the captain wearing his helmet? That beats any selfie, because it happens in the street rather than in front of a camera.

4

Reward before punishment

Captains with high scores get more requests. Those who slip get a warning, then lower priority, then a one-day suspension. We don't cut anyone's income overnight.

The honest version

A captain can take the photo in his helmet and remove it a minute later. We know that, and we don't claim the programme stops it.

Khodha isn't surveillance, it's a habit-change tool: a daily reminder, a number that measures compliance, and a reward for those who comply. Over time the helmet becomes normal rather than the exception — and that alone saves lives.

Photo privacy

Photos are encrypted, deleted after thirty days, and no employee can export them in bulk.

A helmet for the rider too

We sell captains a two-helmet set on weekly instalments, because the rider's safety is part of the ride.

Trip safety

Beyond the helmet.

Real captain verification

National ID, licence, vehicle inspection, and two references we actually phone. Verification happens in our office, not through uploaded photos.

Share your trip with your family

One tap sends your live location, the captain's name and plate number to whoever you choose on WhatsApp.

The SOS button

It calls a number of ours answered by a person around the clock, working from a written protocol.

Immediate suspension

Any serious report suspends the captain's account immediately while we investigate. We publish the number of suspensions monthly.

Your location privacy

We delete every trip route after seventy-two hours, and never store your home address in plain text.

An injury fund

A compensation fund with published payouts for captain accidents, because conventional insurance barely exists here.

Join the captains who already do it

If you already wear a helmet, you're exactly who we're looking for.
